Looking for a fun, easy home project to do today? Time to regrow your store-bought green onions at home! No soil or patio required (though digging in the dirt can be fun!). All you need is a small glass jar or cup and a pair of scissors – let’s get started!

Supplies:
- A small glass jar or cup big enough to hold the green onions vertically You can also use a Mason jar if you have one
- A *clean* pair of kitchen scissors
- Filtered water
Maintenance:
- To store green onions, wash them well and place them into the glass jar, roots down. Fill with water until they cover the roots about 1 inch (2.5cm) above.
- To use green onions, snip at the junction between the white and green parts (see photo below).
- Change the water every 24 – 48 hours and use onions as needed.
- Watch them regrow within hours! (For best results, place them under indirect sunlight or under a fluorescent lamp during the day.)

This is a quick way to save money and is also a great activity for kids to learn basic gardening. Plus, who doesn’t love fresh green onions and the satisfaction of your own grow? Stay tuned for more regrow highlights in the future! Have a lovely day 💚🌱
