Chipotle Hummus

Does summer have you craving something spicy? ๐Ÿ”ฅ I’ve got you with my smoky, savory chipotle hummus! If you’re looking for different and quick snacks to add to your household rotation, consider the humble chipotle pepper. While nothing more than dried and smoked jalapeรฑos, they pack a unique and cravable flavor with a good amount of capsaicin. This compound can help you stay cooler in the warmer months by helping dilate your blood vessels, reducing blood pressure (though you may not know it from all the sweating!). You can chop and add to brown rice or vegetables, or mix it in with black beans! If you enjoy and can tolerate spicy foods, consider adding this unique hummus today. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Chipotle Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 30-45g Chipotles in adobo sauce, canned)
  • 1 15-oz can chickpeas, drained (save liquid!)
  • 2 Tbsp aquafaba (reserved chickpea liquid)
  • 1 Tbsp tahini
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Juice of 1 lime, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt, to taste
  • Optional garnishes: fresh cilantro leaves, roasted sunflower seeds, roasted pepitas (pumpkin seeds), avocado slices, crushed red pepper flakes

Method:

1. In a small or medium food processor, add all of the ingredients except the garnishes. Start with 30 grams of the Chipotle peppers and add more to your desired taste. We personally prefer 45 grams for the extra kick!

2. Process the ingredients until they reach a smooth consistency. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.

3. Add to a bowl with optional garnishes and cut vegetables or low-sodium corn tortillas chips. Enjoy!
